Comments

Does not delete CG17208. CG4323 may be deleted. FlyBase curator comment: This PCR-based molecular mapping of Df(3R)H-B79 contradicts both the pre-existing cytological and complementation data for Df(3R)H-B79. This raises the possibility of Df(3R)H-B79 being a e.g. a transposition into the heterochromatin, with associated PEV, rather than a straightforward deficiency.

    Phenotypic Data
    In combination with other aberrations

No effect on In(1)wm4h position-effect variegation.

NOT in combination with other aberrations

Shows a H mutant phenotype: postvertical and orbital bristles are missing and wing vein L5 thins out as it approaches the wing margin.

The Df(3R)H-B79 chromosome does not act as a dominant suppressor of telomeric silencing (assayed using the effect of the chromosome on the eye colour phenotype of flies carrying "P{wvar}KR3-2", a stable "brown-red" variant of the P{3'WP-2,wvar}2Lt insertion).

Heterozygosity for Df(3R)H-B79 results in 2.4% X chromosome nondisjunction and 2.4% fourth chromosome nondisjunction in In(1)FM7/X ; svspa-pol females.
