Comments

Imprecise excision of the insertion in slp2AVm resulting in a deletion that removes the slp1 transcription unit and all intervening sequences to 16bp downstream of the slp2 transcriptional start site.

    In combination with other aberrations

Df(2L)slpS37A/Df(2L)slp-Δ34B embryos have fused denticle belts.

NOT in combination with other aberrations

    Homozygous embryonic lethal.

Homozygous clones in the eye disc induced 0-24 hours after egg laying (AEL) are frequently present dorsally, but are largely absent from the ventral domain, when examined in late third instar larvae. Mutant clones induced at 24-48 hours AEL are found in the ventral region of the eye discs when examined in the late third instar, but differ from their dorsal counterparts; they are significantly less frequent, are found predominantly behind the morphogenetic furrow and are rounded compared to the dorsal clones. Clones induced at 48-72 hours AEL are found ventrally on both sides of the morphogenetic furrow when examined in late third instar larvae, but still show smoother borders than their dorsal counterparts.
