Homozygotes occasionally survive to the pharate adult stage. These flies are completely unpigmented. Body colour: completely unpigmented.

Adult escapers have a colourless cuticle, melanin is completely absent, the cuticle does not darken with age. Heterozygotes have reduced phenol oxidase activity.
