Description

7566bp 412 element is inserted in the 5'UTR in exon 1 of isoform RB of speck. The size, structure and location of the 412 insertion in speck1 is identical to that found in speck2 (the insertion in both mutants is represented by 412{}881 in the annotated reference genome).

Insertion of a 412 element within the transcription unit.

Known mutation in sequenced strain.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

speck1 adults exhibit ectopic pigmentation in the wing hinge.

speck1 pupal cases exhibit excess pigmentation at the anal pad.

Displays a marked decrease in the amount of the A2 component of phenoloxidase.

In pupa, region of anal papilla is dark.

Body colour: dark; axils of wings have black specks.

speck1 has phenotype, suppressible by su(sable)2

speck1 has phenotype, suppressible by svrpoi-dish

NOT suppressed by
Statement

speck1 has phenotype, non-suppressible by su(Hw)2

Enhancer of
Statement
Reference

speck1 is an enhancer of wing vein | adult stage phenotype of net1

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The net1 phenotype (ectopic veins, vein networking) can be enhanced by combination with CycGHR7 but also by combination with mutant alleles of unrelated factors ru1 or sp1 demonstrating high susceptibility of the net1 phenotype to perturbed genetic background.

The levels of the A2 component of phenoloxidase are restored to normal in presence of su(s)2.
