Polytene chromosomes normal.
The deletion that causes this allele also deletes regions of the neighbouring bxd non-coding RNA gene.
Cis-regulatory mutation.
Deletion of DNA in the distal part of the bxd regulatory region.
Deletion at Ubx at -30kb with respect to transcription start site.
Deletion of DNA within the pbx regulatory region.
Deletion of Ubx sequences.
Deletion of DNA.
Deletion of 15kb from map position -14 to +1kb.
Homozygotes show complete T3p to T2p ("pbx") transformation. A1a is not affected.
Increases the frequency of the trx bithorax-variegated phenotype in heterozygous combination with Df(3R)red-P52.
Hemizygous flies show transformation of posterior haltere to wing and have extra dorsal postnotal tissue. These flies show variable slight reduction of the first abdominal tergite.

Ubx mutants have been classified into "transvection groups", on the basis of transvection tests with Ubxbx-34e, Ubxpbx-2, and UbxCbx-1 Ubx1 mutants. Ubxpbx-2 is transvection positive with Ubx point, pseudopoint and most breakpoint alleles. The Tp(3;3)bxd100 breakpoint marks the distal limit for transvection positive rearrangements.
The phenotype of a number of combinations of Ubx mutations has been investigated to determine the role of the bxd regulatory region in the modulation of Ubx expression.
