Expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in an increase in size of the wing disc.

Expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4cad-em459 results in duplication of the genital discs and the external genital structures in both males and females.

hhScer\UAS.cCa when expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E produces embryos that have no significant defects in their hindgut.

Expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH dorsalises the eye, severely reducing its size.

When driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E the width of the L3-L4 intervein area is increased. Wing vein L3 is displaced anteriorly, truncated and partly fused to L2. L3 specific sensilla are displaced together in most but not all cases.

Veins L3 and L4 are further apart in the wings of flies expressing hhScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E than in wild-type flies.

Produces a repetitive distribution of all wing sensory organ precursors normally located close to the A/P compartment border, when expressed using either Scer\GAL4C-734 or Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1. Produces overgrowth and ectopic bristles in the scutellum when expressed using Scer\GAL4C-734 at 25oC. Almost completely represses scutum and prescutum formation, and produces an enlarged scutellum, when expressed using Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237. Produces an anterior displacement of wing vein 3 and the L3 sensillae when expressed using Scer\GAL4en-e16E at 17oC. The wing vein is displaced more anteriorly, the L3 sensilla are absent, the costa is duplicated and the scutellum is covered with extra bristles when hhScer\UAS.cCa is expressed using Scer\GAL4en-e16E at 25oC.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, posterior transformation of the anterior wing margin occurs. Less extreme anterior to posterior transformations are caused by Scer\GAL430A and Scer\GAL4C-765.

Ectopic expression of dpp in the wing of pharate adults, in the Scer\GAL4 expressing line MS209 and 30A line, induces overgrowth with a mirror image duplications restricted to the anterior edge of the wing. Ectopic expression in 71A Scer\GAL4 expressing line causes branching of L2 and L3. Ectopic expression in MS941 Scer\GAL4 expressing line causes defects in the anterior wing margin and vein L3. Ectopic expression in MS1096 Scer\GAL4 expressing line causes severe disorganisation and necrosis in the anterior wing only.

Expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa suppresses the eye overgrowth phenotype seen when DlScer\UAS.cDa and mir-7Scer\UAS.cLb are expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH. The phenotype is seen with 100% penetrance.

Co-expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa results in enlarged wing discs containing a larger field (30-40% of disc surface area) of differentiating ectopic eye precursors compared to expression of eyScer\UAS.cHa alone under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544.

When dppScer\UAS.cSa, eyScer\UAS.cHa and hhScer\UAS.cCa are driven by Scer\GAL430A, photoreceptor differentiation is induced in both compartments of the wing disc. When hhScer\UAS.cCa, eyaScer\UAS.cPa and eyScer\UAS.cHa are driven by Scer\GAL430A, photoreceptor differentiation is induced in the wing disc, only in the posterior compartment.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF in a roDOM mutant, the enhancement of the stop-furrow phenotype is strong.

The wing phenotype caused by hhScer\UAS.cCa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is suppressed by kncol-1, restoring an almost wild type position of wing vein L3 and its associated sensillae. An ectopic crossvein can be seen in the L2-L3 intervein.

ptcScer\UAS.cJa Scer\GAL471B flies carrying a relatively weakly expressing hhScer\UAS.cCa insertion line have wing discs that are indistinguishable from wild-type. ptcScer\UAS.cJa Scer\GAL471B flies carrying a more strongly expressing hhScer\UAS.cCa insertion line lack all veins in the anterior compartment, while vein 4 is present. Flies expressing both ptcScer\UAS.cJa and hhScer\UAS.cCa using Scer\GAL4MD-638 show recovery of the posterior compartment veins, ectopic induction of vein 3 and L3 sensilla and an enlargement of the region between veins 3 and 4.

The phenotype produced by ectopic expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa using Scer\GAL4C-335a is partially rescued by fuJ. The phenotype produced by ectopic expression of hhScer\UAS.cCa using Scer\GAL430A is partially rescued by fu41.
