The lesion is between exons 4 and 5.
A lesion exists in the second intron of the klar open reading frame.
eye (with Df(3L)emc-E12)
photoreceptor cell & nucleus (with Df(3L)emc-E12)
klarmarb-BP embryos show aberrant lipid droplet transport.
klarmarb-BP/Df(3L)emc-E12 animals have eye defects. The photoreceptor cells are present, largely in their normal positions, but the rhabdomeres are malformed. In contrast to wild type, where the photoreceptor cell nuclei are apical, in klarmarb-BP/Df(3L)emc-E12 eye discs, the photoreceptor cell nuclei are either basal or randomly distributed throughout the apical/basal plane.
The size of the salivary gland lumen is reduced in homozygous embryos.
In klarmarb-BP/Df(3L)emc-E12 flies, the surface of the eye is rough. In the retina, within ommatidia the wild-type number of rhabdomeres are present, but are malformed.
Homozygotes show defects in lipid droplet transport.
Rough eye phenotype.
