In Abd-Biab8,9-T1J/Df(3R)P9 females, the 8th tergite is covered with bristles and trichomes characteristic of an A6/A7 segment and the genitalia are variably transformed into a sternite. Abd-Biab8,9-T1J/Df(3R)P9 males have an 8th tergite with trichomes and a small 8th sternite with 1 to 6 bristles, indicating a partial transformation of A8 to A6/A7. Abd-Biab8,9-T1J/Df(3R)P9 embryos show transformation of segment A8 to a more anterior one, as seen by the trapezoidal shape of the denticle belt, the space between the denticle belt and the anal pads and the absence of posterior spiracles.
