Quantitative analysis of joint formation in legs containing homozygous clones shows that the number of mutant clones crossing the tarsal joints is lower than expected. Of those homozygous clones that do cross the joints, those that are two or more bristles wide produce an autonomous loss of joint tissue.
Homozygous clones in the adult abdomen or thorax abolish the formation of trichomes. Microchaetae are reduced in size in homozygous clones in the thorax.
