Imprecise excision of the P{bluetail} element that results in a 26kb deletion from 96,559 to 70,265 (according to SEQ89E). This removes around three-quarters of the iab-6 region and two-thirds of the iab-7PRE region.

      Abd-Biab-6,7.IH mutant flies show distinct morphological abnormalities in the secondary cells of the male accessory gland. The mutant cells lack the large vacuolar structures seen in wild type.

      Abd-Biab-6,7.IH males harbor a complete transformation of A6 into A5 and a partial transformation of A7 to a segment of intermediate identity between A5 and A6, as seen by the shape of the 7th sternite, which resembles the 6th, but harbors a few bristles (A5 character). In Abd-Biab-6,7.IH embryos, PS11 is transformed into PS10 and PS12 has an intermediate appearance between PS11 and PS12.
