Excision of the P{lacW} insertion in SxlM6,PlacWA has been used to drive templated P-element excision-induced DNA gap repair, which has resulted in the "Sxl[f3]" lesion from the SxlM1,f3 allele being transferred to a chromosome with the SxlM6 lesion, such that the resulting chromosome contains both the lesions found in SxlM6 and "Sxl[f3]". The chromosome carries a 1bp frameshift deletion in exon 2, just 2 nucleotides upstream of the G6395C substitution previously reported (FBrf0079894) for "Sxl[f3]" and also a 26bp intronic deletion of nucleotides 168-193 which is present in the parental allele SxlM1.
Recombination across the y-sn interval on the X chromosome of SxlM6,f3/Sxlf4 females is reduced compared to wild type but not eliminated. The rate of X chromosome nondisjunction is concomitantly elevated. Neither of these meiotic parameters is significantly affected by Wolbachia infection.
Recombination across the y-sn interval on the X chromosome of SxlM6,f3/+ females is reduced compared to wild type.
