The expression of ykiUAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4moody.PU induces a compromised blood-brain barrier, as dye injected into the third instar larval body cavity is able to diffuse into the brain. In agreement, larval subperineurial glial cells show disrupted/discontinuous septate junctions (Dlg immunostaining) and significant increases in nuclear size and ploidy, as compared to controls. There is also a significant increase in larval brain volume , as compared to controls.

Expression of ykiScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU induces adult eye overgrowth.

Expression of ykiScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (restricted to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in an increase in intestinal stem cell division.

Expression of ykiScer\UAS.cZa in enterocytes (ECs) under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 (restricted to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in an increase in intestinal stem cell division.
