The insertion is located 7bp downstream of the distal polyadenylation signal and 12bp upstream of the distal cleavage site of CG11699. This disrupts the distal GU-rich downstream sequence element, such that the distal cleavage site is not used, and the mutant flies only produce CG11699 transcripts with a short 110bp 3'UTR (wild-type flies have two transcripts - some with a 110bp 3'UTR and some with a 221bp 3'UTR).
CG11699pogo108 flies show increased survival on exposure to high levels of benzaldehyde compared to wild-type controls.
CG11699pogo108 flies show increased resistance to the insecticide carbofuran compared to controls.
Mutant flies do not show increased resistance to oxidative stress caused by hydrogen peroxide.
