Description

The loxP cassette in Hcwt.w+ has been excised. The gene encodes the wild-type H coding region without introns. There is a 136bp duplication in the 3'UTR. A residual attR site is present in the 5'UTR and a single loxP site is present in the 3'UTR.

      Hcwt homozygotes do not display apparent external phenotypes. Heterozygotes do not show loss of sensory bristles in the head and thorax.

      Adult Hcwt homozygous mutants do not display significant bristle defects with the number of aberrant bristles within the range observed in wild-type, no abnormalities in wing venation are seen either and the wing size is comparable to controls. However, when combined with the HattP allele, the transheterozygotes show very severe bristle defects (more than 30 affected).
