The GMR70G12 enhancer fragment followed by the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) is fused upstream of the GAL4(DBD)::Zip- hemidriver (component of the 'Split GAL4' system, contains the GAL4 DNA-binding domain).

Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2IVS.10xUAS.EGFP) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R70G12 and Hsap\RELAAD.R19G02 in adults results in a reduction in the ability to maintain a light stimulus at an arbitrary azimuthal position during flight, compared to controls, but the ability to fixate on light stimuli frontally is maintained.
