Definition |
An acellular anatomical structure at the posterior pole of the eggshell that is postulated to act in respiration. It consists of the imprints of 6-15 small central cells surrounded by the imprints of 10-15 peripheral cells, which can be distinguished from the larger imprints of the main body follicle cells.[ FlyBase:FBrf0123036 ] |
