Term stigmatophore ID (Ontology) FBbt:00000425 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition External protrusion of the integument at the posterior terminal of the larva that houses the posterior spiracles. When the larva is buried in the semi-liquid medium where it feeds, the stigmatophore periscopes out of the medium, allowing the larva to continue breathing.[ FlyBase:FBrf0111388 ]
