Definition Bilaterally paired synaptic neuropil domain that is the largest and most medial domain of the ventral complex. Its inferior (ventral) boundary with the saddle is demarcated by a glial sheath and the medial and lateral sides are flanked respectively by the esophagus and inferior fiber system.[ FlyBase:FBrf0193607 FlyBase:FBrf0224194 ]
