Contains a genomic fragment centred on Rab3 in which part of the Rab3 open reading frame (extending from the ATG to the end of the ATG-containing exon) has been replaced with the GAL4 driver coding region and a loxP cassette containing Disc\RFP3xP3.PC and the kanamycin resistance gene.
ScerGAL4Rab3.ATG drives expression in almost all neurons and possibly glia in the larval, pupal and adult brain. Expression is also detected in the developing photoreceptors in the larval eye disc and in the adult photoreceptor cells. Expression in the adult mushroom body is stronger than in the pupal one.
The PBac{I-SceI(FRT.Rab3-GAL4.ATG(loxP.3xP3-RFP))} vector can be used both as a driver expressing Scer\GAL4 under the control of the Rab3 regulatory sequences present in the construct and also as a donor construct for ends-out homologous recombination at the endogenous Rab3 locus.
