Contains a genomic fragment centred on Rab9 in which part of the Rab9 open reading frame (extending from the ATG to the end of the ATG-containing exon) has been replaced with the GAL4 driver coding region and a loxP cassette containing Disc\RFP3xP3.PC and the kanamycin resistance gene.
ScerGAL4Rab9.ATG drives expression in some neurons and glia in the larval brain, as well as in the developing photoreceptors in the eye disc. In the pupal and adult brain, expression in confined to glial cells and some neurons of the olfactory system.
The PBac{I-SceI(FRT.Rab9-GAL4.ATG(loxP.3xP3-RFP))} vector can be used both as a driver expressing Scer\GAL4 under the control of the Rab9 regulatory sequences present in the construct and also as a donor construct for ends-out homologous recombination at the endogenous Rab9 locus.
