Deletion of ppk and elB resulting from FLP-catalyzed recombination using the FRT-containing transposons P{XP}d02171 and PBac{WH}f07052.
Df(2L)ppk1Aid/Df(2L)ppk1MirB mutant larvae do not display the intermediate surfacing transition (IST) behavior (emerging from the food transiently to to roam the food surface, prior to complete food exit) seen in wild type. Food exit is slightly delayed compared to controls. The mouthhooks of early third instar larvae are similar in size to controls. Although the mouthhooks of early third instar larvae are similar in size to controls, the resulting adult flies are larger than their wild type counterparts.
Df(2L)ppk1Aid/Df(2L)ppk1MirB adults have no alterations in aversive shock or temperature olfactory memory, compared to controls.
