Df(2R)F4 homozygosity leads to short lived females and long lived males, as compared to controls. Females exhibit decreased resistance to desiccation and their guts show increased numbers of enterocytes (in both 7-days and 40-days old individuals), increased mitotic index and increased numbers of intestinal stem cells, but decreased ploidy/endoreplication, as compared to controls.
