Detailed Description

Electroretinograms from ninaD2 flies fail to show prolonged depolarization afterpotential (PDA) in response to blue light. This phenotype can be rescued by feeding flies on vitamin A-containing media.

Homozygous flies lack the prolonged depolarising afterpotential (PDA) in the electroretinogram response. In mosaic flies in which the retinal tissue is homozygous for ninaD2 but the rest of the animal is ninaD+, the PDA is restored.
