Description

Identical insertion of 7.5kb 412 into first exon of 83 nucleotides.

Insertion of a 412 element between base pairs 1150 and 1151, 36bp downstream of the major transcription start site, and 21bp upstream of the translation start site. The direction of transcription of the 412 element is opposite to the direction of v transcription.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

vk flies have only 1.5% of the brown eye-pigment compared to controls.

Trace amounts of wild type sized transcripts present in mutants (Searles et al., 1990).

Leaky mutation. Suppressed by su(s) mutations.

vk has phenotype, suppressible by su(sable)R39

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

su(s)R39 increases the brown eye-pigment of vk flies from 1.5% to ~50% of that of controls.

The addition of su(s)6, and su(s)Scer\UAS.cTa driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PB does not rescue the vk eye colour phenotype at 25oC.
