The presence of the heat shock-inducible and constitutively active Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ suppresses the reduction in life span seen in Nf1^P2 mutants.

Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ increases the survival rate of flies that express Hsap\HD^{Q48.ex1p.Scer\UAS} in the nervous system at 18[o]C and 22[o]C (under the regulation of Scer\GAL4^elav-C155). The increase in survival rate with Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ is larger at 22[o]C than at 18[o]C (~10% at 22[o]C and ~5% at 18[o]C).

Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ completely rescues the learning defect of Nf1^P1 when the flies are raised at room temperature. Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ partially rescues the learning defect of Nf1^P2 when the flies are raised at room temperature, and completely rescues Nf1^P2 when it is expressed using heat shock (37^oC, 30 minutes). Nf1^P1 and Nf1^P2 flies show a short-term memory defect (3 and 8 hour retention) which is completely rescued by heat shock induced expression of Mmus\Pkaca^hs.PJ.
