mirrB1-12/mirrg14 females lay normal eggs, 100% of which hatch. mirrP1/mirrB1-12 females lay eggs with abnormal eggshells and small dorsal appendages (in 50% of cases), 100% of which hatch.

Rare adult escapers. Homozygotes that escape lethality exhibit mild bristle defects, but have normal alula. Postalar bristle and alula are not affected heterozygotes. Transheterozygotes with mirrSai1 or mirrSai2 are semi-lethal. Rare adults exhibit outheld wings, the alulae are completely missing and postalar bristles are missing. Transheterozygotes with mirrg14 or mirre48 survive to the adult stage ad also exhibit outheld wings, missing alulae and bristle defects. Transheterozygotes with Df(3L)iro-DFM1 are semi-lethal with rare escapers. Escapers show outheld wings, lack of alulae and deletion of the posterior supraalar bristle and/or anterior postalar bristle. Transheterozygotes with Tp(3;3)iro-1 are viable and show no obvious defects in the alula, but they do show deletion of presutural bristle and anterior postalar bristle.

Adults escape lethality at rate of <1%.

In combination with Mob1 the alula are eliminated. In combination with Mob1, mirrB1-12/Tp(3;3)iro-1 transheterozygotes exhibit complete removal of the lateral macrobristles.
