cswLE120/Y embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones show loss of VA2 muscle precursor cells (only 53% of hemisegments contain VA2 precursor cells).
cswLE120 germline clone mosaics cause maternal effect lethality. In mutant embryos ventral cells undergo cell fate changes to that of more lateral epidermal cell fates. Pupal lethality can be rescued by heat induced expression of P{hs-SHP-2} during larval and pupal stages but not by expression of P{hs-SHP-1}.

Expression of csw::Src64Bsrc90.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PG nearly completely suppresses the loss of VA2 muscle precursor cells seen in cswLE120/Y embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones (94% of hemisegments have VA2 cells).
Scer\GAL4sca-C253 mediated expression of EgfrDN.Scer\UAS.cBa generates flies with reduced eyes and females carrying Scer\GAL4T155 and EgfrDN.Scer\UAS.cBa lay partially to completely ventralised eggs. These phenotypes are enhanced in a cswLE120 mutant background.
Mutant phenotype can be rescued by cswhs.PP. Fully zygotically rescued adult males are fertile and when crossed to heterozygous females produce both male and female progeny. These females generate eggs with fused dorsal appendages. Examination of rescued adults reveals consistent defects; absence of one or both aristae, lack of one or more of the distal-most leg segments, incomplete formation of the distal portions of wing vein L5, eyes have reduced numbers of disorganised ommatidia and interommatidial bristles.
