When srScer\UAS.cBa is driven by Scer\GAL469B the number of cells that migrate into the dorsal branch of the tracheal system is increased - normally 5 to 6 cells are allocated, but this increases to up to ten in mutants. Terminal branch specification is unaffected.

When srScer\UAS.cBa is expressed in the salivary glands (using Scer\GAL4sim.PS) in Df(3R)DG4/+ embryos, the lateral somatic myotubes are attracted to the salivary glands and adhere to them (in contrast to wild-type where they do not attach to the salivary glands). Myotubes are also attracted to cells expressing srScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 in Df(3R)DG4/+ embryos. Embryos expressing srScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E or Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 in a wild-type background have mild aberrations in the somatic muscle pattern; some myotubes may be missing, others are oriented abnormally and may be connected to the cells expressing srScer\UAS.cBa, and the lateral transverse muscles often show abnormal morphology. Homozygous srG11 embryos that are expressing srScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E show a severe disruption of the somatic muscle pattern, especially that of the lateral transverse muscles.

When srScer\UAS.cBa and bnlScer\UAS.cSa are both driven by Scer\GAL4sim.PS a dramatic tracheal sprouting is seen in the salivary glands, showing an enhancement of the bnlScer\UAS.cSa, Scer\GAL4sim.PS phenotype.
