Expression of cortoUAS.cKa under the control of either Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 or Scer\GAL4sd.PU leads to induction of extra pieces of wing vein tissue in all flies.

When cortoUAS.cKa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB, the highest percentage of ectopic vein phenotype is obtained as a result of heat-shock applied between 96 to 120 hours after egg laying (AEL) as compared to no heat-shock, heat-shock applied between 72 h-96 h AEL or 120 h-136 h AEL conditions.

Most animals expressing cortoScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 differentiate into adults. 100% of these flies show a transformation of arista towards tarsal segments of the leg, with most of the transformed legs including the distal-most tarsal structures (the tuft and the claw). There is also a fully penetrant weak transformation of halteres to wings. Flies have rotated genitalia and show loss of scutellar bristles. A gradual reduction in the size of the legs, wing blades and scutellum is seen as the temperature increases.
