    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Zygotic-only mof2 mutants (homozygotes) are male larval lethal and female semi-viable; female adults are short lived. Maternal-only mof2 mutants are lethal. Maternal-zygotic mof2 mutants are male embryonic lethal and female semi-lethal; all male embryos arrest development during or shortly after gastrulation with highly abnormal morphology such as irregular organization of epidermal tissues, aberrant invagination of the stomodaeum, and the hindgut, and failure to form a proper cephalic furrow.

Epidermal mof2 clones in the mof+t6.8 background are able to form normal-looking adult structures with sensory bristles.

    mof2/Y hemizygous males are lethal

Mutant males show full lethality, whereas the number of females reaching adulthood is reduced approximately 2-fold compared to wild type. Most mutant female adults are sterile. The average lifespan of mutant females is reduced to 8 days compared to 37 days in controls.

    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

One paternally-derived copy of mof2 reduces the viability of scsisB-1 sisA1/+ females.

    Xenogenetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

One copy of mof2 does not enhance the reduction in eclosion rate seen when Hsap\HTTQ93.ex1p.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

    Complementation and Rescue Data
    Comments

The lethality of mof2 hemizygous mutant males is strongly rescued by expression of any of the following:mofScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, mof2KN.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, mof7KN.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, mof9KN.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, mof3KC.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG or mof9KC.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PU and partially also by expression of mof9KC.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG, whereas expression of either mofΔN.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG or mofNt.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG does not efficiently rescue survival of the male mutants as only few escapers emerge.

Expression of mofScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PU completely rescues the lethality of mof2 males.

Expression of either mofΔZn.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1, mofW426G.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 or mofY416D.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PU fails to rescue the lethality of mof2 males.

The lethality of mof2 males is partially rescued by expression of either mofΔ1.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 (49.6% rescue), mofΔ2.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 (59.3% rescue), mofΔ3.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 (42.5% rescue) or mofΔN.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 (11.2% rescue) under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PU.
