Detailed Description

Neuroectodermal cells are irregularly sized and spaced in homozygous embryos, often having a "wavy" cell outline. Neuroblasts are elongated compared to spherical wild-type neuroblasts and ganglion mother cells are misshapen and appear to slide apically between neuroblasts rather than forming a distinct basal layer. Neuroblasts and ganglion mother cells in the neuroectoderm show a uniform cortical distribution of actin in the mutant embryos, as occurs in wild type.

mira[+]/miraAB78 is an enhancer of egg chamber phenotype of cup21

mira[+]/miraAB78 is an enhancer of egg chamber phenotype of cup15

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The ovarian phenotype of cup15 and cup21 homozygous females is enhanced if they are also heterozygous for miraAB78; a greater fraction of egg chambers arrest development between stages 3 and 5 in the double mutant ovaries compared to in the single mutant ovaries.
