Insertion of a P{EP} element 280bp upstream of the 5' end of exon 1a. The P{EP} element is inserted so that a sense Bx transcript is produced by transcription from the promoter in the P{EP} element.

Mutant animals exhibit an increased sensitivity to cocaine.

Flies expressing BxEP1394 under the control of Scer\GAL4bi-omb-Gal4 lack most of the normal wing margin and have irregular pieces of ectopic margin associated with overgrowths in the dorsal surface of the wing. Flies expressing BxEP1394 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 show extensive overgrowth of the dorsal surface of the wing with an ectopic wing margin along the edge of the overgrowth.

Flies expressing BxEP1394 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 show ectopic wing formation on the wing or notum. Flies expressing BxEP1394 under the control of Scer\GAL4Ser.PGF show disruption of the wing margin resulting in scalloping of the wing.
