Heterozygotes of locoA1/locoM1 escape as viable adults with behavioural defects. Heterozygotes of locoL1/locoM1 occasionally survive as viable adults at 18oC but are pupal lethal at 25oC. Heterozygotes of locoF1/locoM1 occasionally survive as eclosing adults at 18oC but are pupal lethal at 25oC. When trans with locoΔ13 or locoΔ293 at 25oC escapers are produced. Escapers show a paralytic phenotype, and drop into the food and die of not rescued. Rescued adults show a severe impairment of spontaneous locomotor activity and show a shaking phenotype. Response to mechanical stimulation is weak (for locoΔ293) and non-existent (for locoΔ13). All adult escapers die after a maximum of 2 days.

No modification of the G-oα47AScer\UAS.cKa overexpression phenotype (under Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 control) is observed in locoM1 heterozygous mutants.
Based on lethal phase (which ranges from larval lethal to viable) alleles can be placed in an allelic series, going from strongest to weakest: locoL1 > locoF1 > locoT1 = locoA1 > locoM1.
