        chifETBE3 follicle cell clones either fail to show the expected gene amplification (BrdU-positive foci) normally observed in controls or present picnotic nuclei.

        BrdU incorporation is not observed in homozygous chifETBE3 egg chamber clones in amplification stage follicle cells, whereas endocycle stage DNA replication continues, albeit with some differences in timing compared to surrounding wild type cells.
