Flies in which rprScer\UAS.cVa is expressed under the control of sd213-440.hs.T:Scer\GAL4 using heat shock at the mid second larval instar stage have gaps at the wing margin. The wing blade and veins are not affected. Flies in which rprScer\UAS.cVa is expressed under the control of sd213-440.hs.T:Scer\GAL4 using heat shock at the mid third larval instar stage show a loss of wing blade tissue in pharate adults (the wing margin and veins are not affected). No visible effect is seen in the thorax, legs or eyes. Flies in which rprScer\UAS.cVa is expressed under the control of sd213-440.hs.T:Scer\GAL4 using heat shock at the prepupal stage show disruptions in wing veins L2, L4 and L5 or have ectopic vein material.

Expression of rprScer\UAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PU results in an absence of wings.
