Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 2.1kb deletion of genomic sequences uncovering 0.7kb towards Gr5a (removing the promoter and at least 58bp of 5' leader sequences) and 1.4kb towards Tre1 (removing the promoter, exon 1 and part of intron 1).
