Expression of HΔC.Scer\UAS in non-sensory organ precursors, driven by Scer\GAL4mα.hs, converts some of these cells into sensory organ precursors, although the penetrance of this phenotype is lower than when a H wild-type transgene is expressed.
Expression of HΔC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in a high frequency of bristle socket-to-shaft transformations. Many socket cells are only partially converted to shaft fate and sockets that produce multiple small shafts are seen.
