Reported amino acid change:

W208term

Comment:

G to A nucleotide change at the second or third position of the Trp codon leads to a nonsense mutation. (exact site of mutation unspecified). Site of nucleic acid difference in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change. The current annotation uses an upstream AUG 29aa upstream relative to previous reports. This accounts for the discrepency in the reported vs. annotated amino acid coordinate of the mutation.

Some Mmp1W208stop mutants die during the second larval instar (about 40%), most of the rest die during the third larval instar, which lasts several days longer than in wild-type. Only 4% pupariate, and none of these undergo head eversion, or eclose. Most Mmp1W208stop/Mmp12 animals survive to third instar (90%), but only 6% pupariate; 4% undergo head eversion, but none eclose.
