Wild type Nmdar1 coding sequences were cloned into P{Express-UAS}. May be missing amino acids 571-573, 833-855 and 965-969.
Overexpression of Nmdar1Scer\UAS.Exel under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 rescues changes in preference index (with respect to light) after constant darkness compared to overexpression flies reared in a normal light/dark cycle, indicating phototaxis preference behaviour plasticity is modulated by Nmdar1. These flies show normal ERG levels. Using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B to suppress expression of Nmdar1Scer\UAS.Exel until the flies are experiencing constant darkness reveals that Nmdar1 expression is critical to enable flies to respond with phototaxic plasticity. Overexpression of Nmdar1 also modulates adult phototaxis preference behavior plasticity.
Overexpression of Nmdar1Scer\UAS.Exel under heat shock (Scer\GAL4hs.PB) rescues changes in preference index preference index (with respect to light) after constant darkness compared to overexpression flies reared in a normal light/dark cycle.
