Expression of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4sNPF.2.4 increases body weight and size by 20% compared to control siblings.

Expression of two copies of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa using Scer\GAL4MJ94 increases body size by 24%. Similar changes are seen in the overall size of adult wings, resulting from changes in both cell size and number.

Flies expressing two copies of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa using Scer\GAL4Ilp2.PR are of similar size to wild type.

Expression of two copies of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa using Scer\GAL4MJ94 increases the size of fat body cells by 42%.

Expression of two copies of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa using Scer\GAL4MJ94 does not affect lifespan.

In adults, expression of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4MJ94 significantly increases the fraction of fed flies (assayed by uptake of coloured food fed to the animals for 10 minutes) compared with controls. In third instar feeding larvae, expression of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB significantly increases the fraction of fed larvae (assayed by uptake of coloured food fed to the animals for 10 minutes) compared with controls. In wandering larvae, expression of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified has no effect on the fraction of fed larvae (assayed by uptake of coloured food) compared with controls. In a prolonged feeding assay, adults expressing sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4MJ94 saturate feeding to nearly 100% after 15 minutes, whereas wild-type flies saturate feeding to nearly 100% after 40 minutes. Adult flies expressing two copies of sNPFScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4MJ94 are heavier (32%) and bigger (25%) than control flies.
