Drives expression in several central brain structures, most prominently in the dorsal and fan-shaped body, including dorsal layers 6-8 and ventral layers 1-2; also drives expression in the lateral accessory lobe (VBO)
ScerGAL4104Y drives expression in the dorsal part of the fan-shaped body.
ScerGAL4104Y is seen to express in dorsal (layers 6-8) and ventral (layers 1-2) layers of the fan-shaped body.
ScerGAL4104Y is expressed in layers 1 and 5 of the fan-shaped body, in the subesophageal ganglion, lateral protocerebrum, near the mushroom body calyx, in the optic lobe and in the leg neuromeres of the thoracico-abdominal ganglion. It is strongly expressed in a restricted domain of the lamina.
Activation of fan-shaped body dopaminergic neurons through overexpression of temperature sensitive TrpA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4104Y produces a large increase in the amount of sleep seen in mature (7-8 day old) flies, but has a less severe effect on young (1 day old) flies.
