UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a mutated form of H in which the gro protein-binding motif has been disrupted (sequence changed from YSIHHSLLG to AAAHSAAG).
Expression of HGm.Scer\UAS in non-sensory organ precursors, driven by Scer\GAL4mα.hs, converts some of these cells into sensory organ precursors, although the penetrance of this phenotype is lower than when a H wild-type transgene is expressed.
