The mitotic checkpoint normally induced by 4000rad of irradiation is not detectable in grp209/grpZ5170 mutants. No checkpoint is detectable in these animals after irradiation with 500rad.

grp209/grpZ5170 males in which excision of insertions of P{hswa} is induced during development are completely viable.

27.6% of embryos derived from grpZ5170/Df(2L)H20 females arrest in precortical cycles with acentrosomal, barrel-shaped spindles.

Survival to adulthood of grp209/grpZ5170 lok30 males in which excision of an insertion of P{hswa} is induced during development is drastically reduced.

grp209/grpZ5170 ; DNApol-α180Emus304/+ males have a rough eye phenotype, while grp209/grpZ5170 ; DNApol-α180Emus304/+ females have wild-type eyes. The wing discs of these mutant animals show an increase in apoptosis compared to wild type.
