Detailed Description

koi80 homozygotes exhibit both severe nuclear spacing defects (i.e. nuclear clustering) and moderate nuclear shape defects in third instar larval muscle fibers, as compared to heterozygous and wild-type controls.

koiHRKO80.w homozygous flies and koiHRKO80.w/Df(2R)Exel6050 trans-heterozygous flies exhibit a rough eye phenotype.

koiHRKO80.w/Df(2R)Exel6050 mutant retinas have a mainly undisrupted hexagonal lattice of accessory cells and the trapezoids of photoreceptors are also present. However, rhabdomere morphology is aberrant.

Photoreceptor and cone cell nuclei fail to migrate apically and are positioned randomly within the apical-basal axis in koiHRKO80.w/Df(2R)Exel6050 mutant eye discs.

Photoreceptor nuclei fail to migrate apically and are positioned randomly within the apical-basal axis in koiHRKO80.w mutant eye discs.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

koi80 heterozygosity partially suppresses the increased apoptosis observed in kudKO homozygous follicular epithelium clones and enhances the minor/insignificant myonuclear spacing defects in third instar larval muscle fibers induced by the expression of kudScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-CFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247.

koiHRKO80.w, klarmarb-CD4 double mutant homozygotes have a mutant phenotype identical to either single mutant alone: photoreceptor nuclei fail to migrate apically and are positioned randomly within the apical-basal axis in mutant eye discs; mutant adults are viable with rough eyes in which some bristles are missing.

Comments

Df(2R)Exel6050 fails to complement the rough eye phenotype associated with koiHRKO80.w.
