UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of AvenGD9098 driven by either Scer\GAL4da.G32 or Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU results in larval lethality at 29[o]C and pupal lethality at 25[o]C.
Expression of AvenGD9098 driven by Scer\GAL4elav.PU, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU or Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in viable flies with no apparent phenotype.
Expression of AvenGD9098 driven by either Scer\GAL4Cg.PA or Scer\GAL4fat results in pupal lethality at 29[o]C.
Female AvenGD9098, Scer\GAL4Cg.PA flies are viable at 25[o]C. Their overall body size is not obviously different from controls, but they appear to have smaller ovaries and increased body fat tissue mass. Fat cells from abdominal fat tissue are smaller and display highly condensed DNA morphology compared to controls. These fat cells also display a markedly elevated number of phospho-histone H3-positive cells.
Adults expressing AvenGD9098 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
