UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat of nucleotides 1540-2015 of the Trf4-1 cDNA, with the repeats separated by the Trf4-1 third intron sequence. The repeats are in head-to-head orientation.

      Expression of Trf4-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C results in third instar larval or early pupal lethality. Few of the animals survive until the late pupal stage, but when they do, the body of the pupa is significantly darkened compared to controls.

      Expression of Trf4-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF does not result in a mutant phenotype in the eye.

      Expression of Trf4-1Scer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in a rough eye phenotype, which is suppressed by co-expression of Trf4-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cNa.
