UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
The adulthood-only expression of faxKK102829 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4C587 and Gal80[ts] leads to a progressive decrease in the number of germline stem cells in the germarium, but does not affect germarium size, the numbers of escort and cap cells, the proportion of germline stem cells undergoing cell division or the proportion of germline cysts presenting cells undergoing cell division, as compared to controls. This expression from the developmental stages onwards (i.e. in the absence of Gal80[ts] control) does not significantly affect the germline stem cells and cap cell numbers and only mildly affects the wrapping of germ cell cysts by escort cells, as compared to controls.
The escort cell within clones expressing faxKK102829 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU show blunted extension of membrane processes that fail to completely wrap germ cell cysts, as compared to controls.
