UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
The expression of fizKK103055 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU leads to significantly decreased tolerance to DDT and Malathion, but not to Ethanol, in both females and males (assessed by Mortality upon exposure), and to a significantly decreased cold tolerance in females only (assessed as the recovery time from chill coma), as compared to controls; this expression also leads to significant increases in larval volume, adult weight, adult wing length (males and females) and area (female only), as well as in adult wing loading, as compared to controls.
Expression of CG9509KK103055 under the control of Scer\GAL4Abd-B.D1 results in aberrant morphology (multiple small vacuoles that appear to be interconnected) of the secondary cells in male accessory glands. Wild-type mates of these knock-down males lay fewer eggs and display defects in post-mating receptivity suppression - the females become receptive for re-mating sooner (by 4 days after start of mating) than when mated with wild-type males.
