Expression of CirlKK108383 (along with UAS-dicer2 to enhance RNAi efficiency) driven by Scer\GAL4elav.PU results in significant hyperactivity and sleep loss (particularly at night), compared to control flies. Expression of CirlKK108383 (along with UAS-dicer2 to enhance RNAi efficiency) driven by Scer\GAL4nSyb.PU results in significant hyperactivity. In constant darkness, Scer\GAL4elav.PU>CirlKK108383 flies show equally significant increases in activity and decreases in sleep during both the relative day and night. Scer\GAL4elav.PU>CirlKK108383 flies have similar numbers of dopaminergic neurons as controls at 5 and 11 days old.
