UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of MED22KK109139 under the control of Scer\GAL4bam.T:Hsim\VP16 (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) results in complete meiotic arrest in spermatocytes. Spermatocytes arrest at the G2/M transition of meiosis I, accumulating to fill the testis before eventually degenerating near the basal end of the testis; bivalent chromosomes exhibit defects in that they partially condense and move away from the periphery of the nucleus, and the nucleolus fails to break down.
Expression via Scer\GAL4wor.PA and Scer\GAL80ase.PN prolongs the lifetime and prevents shrinkage of pupal neuroblasts (NBs) without having any obvious effects on larval NBs.
